Southern Fried

Some days just leave you fried...
and make you yearn for that little taste of home

Memaw's Hushpuppy Recipe:
1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 egg
¾ cup butter, melted
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking soda
1 medium onion, finely minced

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Grease your hands and roll batter into balls; gently lower hushpuppies into hot oil to fry. Hush puppies should float in the oil when they’re done and should be golden in color.

Happy Foodie Friday, y'all!

Oh, this really does make me homesick. My grandfather made the world's best hushpuppies, and yours look really good, too. Is there anything better than hushpuppies with fried catfish and really delicious cole slaw? Now, I'm starving! LOL!

Happy Foodie Friday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh yum! Now we just need the catfish to go with it.

Oh, that looks so good! I've been craving some catfish lately. I love my husband's fried catfish, so I'm going to have to sweet talk him into cooking some for me. I'm saving your hushpuppie recipe to try.
